Knowra Salah Jahin Salah Jahin Salah Jahin (1930–1986) was an Egyptian poet, lyricist, playwright, journalist, and cartoonist. His colloquial Arabic poetry and political caricatures made him a prominent voice in modern Egyptian culture.
Egyptian colloquial Arabic : The varieties of spoken Arabic used in Egypt, distinct from Modern Standard Arabic in grammar and vocabulary. Jahin wrote much of his poetry in the language of everyday Egyptian speech.
Fouad el-Mohandes : An Egyptian actor and comedian known for film, radio, television, and stage performances. El-Mohandes performed Jahin’s satirical monologues and songs, including work for television.
Gamal Abdel Nasser : Egyptian military officer and president from 1956 until his death in 1970. Jahin’s early public work engaged with the hopes and political language of Nasser’s Egypt.
