Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is Utah’s capital and most populous city, situated at the southeastern end of the Great Salt Lake and founded by Mormon settlers in 1847.

Brigham Young: Brigham Young was a religious leader who led Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley and governed the Utah Territory. He led the settlers who founded Salt Lake City in 1847.
Great Salt Lake: The Great Salt Lake is a saline lake in northern Utah, the largest remnant of prehistoric Lake Bonneville. The city lies at its southeastern end.

Salt Lake Valley: Salt Lake Valley is an urbanized basin in northern Utah, bounded by the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch and Oquirrh ranges. The city occupies the valley’s eastern side.
Salt Lake City International Airport: Salt Lake City International Airport is Utah’s principal airport and a major airline hub in the western United States. It connects the city and region to national and international destinations.
Ogden, Utah: Ogden is a city north of Salt Lake City, historically shaped by its role as a transcontinental railroad junction. Its railroad-era growth provides a distinct counterpart to Salt Lake City’s founding as a religious settlement.
State of Deseret: The State of Deseret was a proposed state organized by Mormon settlers in 1849, with Salt Lake City as its capital. The city served as the center of this early bid for regional self-government.
Wasatch Range: The Wasatch Range is a mountain chain in Utah and Idaho, forming the eastern edge of the Salt Lake Valley. Its steep western slopes define the city’s eastern skyline.
