Salvation in Christianity is deliverance from sin and its consequences, and reconciliation with God, made possible through Jesus Christ. Christian traditions differ over how salvation is received and unfolds.

Atonement: The reconciliation of humanity with God through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. It explains how Christ’s work is understood to address sin and restore the relationship with God.
Sin in Christianity: A violation of God’s will that damages the relationship between God and humanity. Salvation answers the estrangement and wrongdoing that Christian teaching calls sin.
Faith and works: The theological question of how trust in God and human actions relate to salvation. Christian traditions interpret the relationship between faith and works differently.
