Samuel Hahnemann

Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843) was a German physician who founded homeopathy, an alternative medical system built around “like cures like” and highly diluted remedies.

Homeopathy: An alternative medical system based on the idea that substances causing symptoms in healthy people can treat similar symptoms in illness. Hahnemann created this system and gave it its central principles.
Drug proving: A method of recording symptoms after healthy people take a substance, used in homeopathy to characterize remedies. Hahnemann used provings to determine which symptoms each substance supposedly produced.
