Sandy Koufax

Sandy Koufax is an American left-handed pitcher who played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. His peak seasons in the 1960s made him one of baseball’s most dominant pitchers.

1963 World Series: The World Series in which the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in four games. Koufax won two games, including the opener, and was named the series’ Most Valuable Player.
Fastball: A pitch thrown primarily for speed, usually with backspin that produces a relatively straight path. Koufax’s powerful fastball was the foundation of his strikeout-heavy approach.
