Sanford B. Dole

Sanford B. Dole was a Hawaiian lawyer and politician who led the Republic of Hawaii as president and later served as territorial governor under United States rule.

Kingdom of Hawaii: An independent Polynesian monarchy that governed the Hawaiian Islands from 1795 until its overthrow in 1893. Dole held office within this kingdom before helping overthrow its monarchy.
