Sanskrit manuscript

A Sanskrit manuscript is a handwritten witness to a text composed in Sanskrit. It preserves a particular version of a work, often shaped by copying, regional scripts, and material conditions.

Sanskrit: An ancient Indo-Aryan language used in religious, literary, philosophical, and scholarly traditions across South Asia. The manuscripts preserve works composed in this language.
Textual criticism: The study of textual variants and the methods used to establish or interpret the history of a text. It compares manuscript witnesses to reconstruct a text's transmission.
