Sargon of Akkad

Sargon of Akkad was a ruler who conquered Sumerian city-states and founded the Akkadian Empire, one of history’s earliest territorial empires.

Akkadian Empire: A Mesopotamian empire founded by Sargon of Akkad in the third millennium BCE. Sargon’s conquests created this empire and established its political reach.
Akkadian language: A Semitic language used in ancient Mesopotamia and written in cuneiform. Akkadian served as a major language of administration across Sargon’s empire.
