Knowra Satavahana dynasty Satavahana dynasty The Satavahana dynasty was an ancient Indian royal house that ruled much of the Deccan from about the first century BCE to the third century CE. Its kings supported long-distance trade, Buddhist institutions, and Prakrit inscriptions.
Deccan : A large plateau region of south-central India, bounded broadly by the Western and Eastern Ghats. The dynasty’s power emerged on this plateau and later extended across much of it.
Satavahana inscriptions : Prakrit records issued by or about Satavahana rulers, officials, donors, and religious institutions. They document grants, political claims, and the people who sustained royal power.
