Scale (geography)

Scale is the spatial or organizational level at which a geographic process or pattern is examined. It shapes which patterns become visible and how processes are interpreted.

Spatial scale: The geographic extent or resolution at which a phenomenon is observed or analyzed. It names the spatial dimension of geographic scale.
Modifiable areal unit problem: The sensitivity of statistical results to how spatial units are grouped and bounded. Changing geographic units can change patterns measured at a given scale.

Spatial autocorrelation: The degree to which nearby locations have similar or dissimilar values. Spatial dependence can vary with the scale of observation.
