Scanian War

The Scanian War was fought from 1675 to 1679 between Denmark–Norway and its allies and Sweden, chiefly over Scania and other former Danish territories.

Battle of Lund: A 1676 battle in Scania in which Swedish forces defeated a larger Danish army. This costly Swedish victory helped prevent Denmark from reconquering Scania.
Treaty of Roskilde: A 1658 treaty that forced Denmark–Norway to cede extensive territories to Sweden. Its transfer of Scania made the region the war’s central Danish objective.
Charles XI of Sweden: King of Sweden from 1660 to 1697, who ruled during the Scanian War. His government directed Sweden’s defense and pursued recovery of its German territories.
Treaty of Fontainebleau (1679): A 1679 treaty between France and Denmark–Norway that ended their war. It required Denmark to make peace without regaining Scania.
Battle of Halmstad: A 1676 battle in which Swedish forces defeated a Danish army near Halmstad. The victory disrupted Denmark’s campaign in Halland before the Battle of Lund.
