A planned journey that gathers systematic observations or evidence about the natural or human world. It combines travel with methods for recording, analyzing, and preserving findings.

Field research: Research conducted in real-world settings rather than solely in laboratories or archives. Expeditions are a mobile form of field research, collecting evidence where phenomena occur.
