Scrunchie

A fabric-covered elastic band used to tie back hair, typically with gathered or ruffled fabric around its circumference.

Elastic: A stretchable material that returns toward its original shape after being deformed. The stretchable core lets a scrunchie wrap around a bundle of hair.
Ponytail: A hairstyle in which hair is gathered and secured at the back or top of the head. A scrunchie commonly secures a ponytail without a narrow elastic pressing directly against hair.
Rommy Revson: An American singer and pianist credited with inventing and patenting the scrunchie. Revson developed the fabric-covered hair fastener and received its first patent.
Elastic hair tie: A narrow elastic loop used to bind hair, often with little or no fabric covering. Unlike a scrunchie, it exposes a narrow elastic surface that can grip hair tightly.
