Sechura Desert

A coastal desert in northwestern Peru, extending across the Sechura region south of Piura. It includes arid plains, dunes, and seasonal wetlands shaped by Pacific climate and episodic river flows.

Piura Region: An administrative region in northwestern Peru, bordering the Pacific Ocean and Ecuador. The desert lies south of Piura city within this region.
Sechura Depression: A low-lying basin in the Sechura region that can hold extensive floodwater after exceptional rains. Its low elevation concentrates runoff during major El Niño events.
