Semarang

Semarang is the capital and largest city of Central Java, Indonesia, on the north coast of Java. Its history as a port city is visible in its Chinese, Dutch colonial, and Javanese influences.

Dutch East India Company: A Dutch trading company that held a state-backed monopoly on trade in Asia from 1602 to 1799. The company established colonial influence in Semarang and helped make it a regional trading center.
