Sequoioideae

Sequoioideae is a subfamily of the cypress family, Cupressaceae, comprising three living genera: Sequoia, Sequoiadendron, and Metasequoia.

Coast redwood: Sequoia sempervirens is an evergreen conifer native to the Pacific coast of California and southwestern Oregon. It is the sole living species in Sequoioideae’s genus Sequoia.
Sequoioideae fossil record: The Sequoioideae fossil record documents extinct relatives and past distributions of the redwood subfamily. Fossils show that the group was once more diverse and geographically widespread.
