Sergei Witte

Sergei Witte was a Russian statesman who served as finance minister from 1892 to 1903 and chaired the Council of Ministers from 1905 to 1906. He promoted industrialization, railway expansion, and monetary reform in the late Russian Empire.

Trans-Siberian Railway: A railway linking European Russia with the Pacific coast, built largely between 1891 and 1916. Witte oversaw major state financing and construction efforts that advanced this eastward rail connection.
