Serial verb construction

A serial verb construction places two or more verbs in one clause without overt coordination or subordination, expressing a single event or a sequence of related events.

Verb phrase: A syntactic unit organized around a verb and its dependents. Serial verbs form a predicate whose internal structure differs across languages.
Clause: A grammatical unit typically containing a predicate and its arguments. The defining restriction places the verb sequence within a single clause.
Verb complementation: A relation in which one verb takes another expression, often a clause, as its complement. A complement verb can be syntactically dependent where a serial verb is not.
