Sexual coercion

Sexual coercion is the use of pressure, manipulation, threats, or force to obtain sexual activity without freely given consent. It can occur without physical violence.

Consent: Consent is voluntary agreement to a specific activity, given by someone able to choose and withdraw agreement. Coercion compromises the freedom that makes agreement meaningful.
Post-traumatic stress disorder: Post-traumatic stress disorder is a condition involving persistent distress and impairment after traumatic exposure. Some people develop PTSD after coercive or otherwise traumatic sexual experiences.
Sexual consent law: Sexual consent law defines when agreement to sexual activity is legally valid and how consent is assessed. Legal standards determine how coercion affects whether consent was present.

Rape: Rape is a serious form of sexual violence defined by law, commonly involving nonconsensual penetration. Some coercive encounters involve penetration and meet legal definitions of rape.
Unintended pregnancy: An unintended pregnancy is a pregnancy that was mistimed or not wanted when it occurred. Coercion and interference with contraception can contribute to unintended pregnancy.
