Shadi Abdel Salam

Shadi Abdel Salam (1930–1986) was an Egyptian film director, screenwriter, and production designer best known for The Mummy (1969), a film about the discovery of royal mummies.

The Mummy (1969 film): An Egyptian historical drama in which a tribe’s heir confronts the illicit trade in ancient royal tombs. Abdel Salam wrote and directed this landmark film, also known as The Night of Counting the Years.
Production design: The creation and coordination of a film’s settings, objects, and visual environment. Abdel Salam worked as a production designer as well as a director and screenwriter.
