Shamil Basayev

Shamil Basayev (1965–2006) was a Chechen separatist commander who led armed campaigns against Russian rule and claimed responsibility for organizing the 2004 Beslan school siege.

Dzhokhar Dudayev: The first president of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, who led its independence movement after the Soviet Union collapsed. Basayev fought in the separatist forces that Dudayev led.
