Shanhai Pass

Shanhai Pass is a fortified mountain pass in Hebei, China, where the Great Wall reaches the Bohai Sea. Its strategic position made it a gateway between northeast China and the North China Plain.

Old Dragon's Head: A Ming-dynasty fortification extending the Great Wall into the Bohai Sea at its eastern end. This coastal outpost marks where the wall meets the sea near the pass.
Xu Da: A Ming general and statesman who helped establish the dynasty and organize its early defenses. Tradition associates early fortification at Shanhai Pass with Xu Da’s frontier campaigns.
