Sharqia Governorate

Sharqia Governorate is an administrative region in northeastern Egypt’s Nile Delta, with Zagazig as its capital. Its landscape includes fertile agricultural land and settlements along branches of the Nile.

Zagazig: Zagazig is a city in the eastern Nile Delta and the capital of Sharqia Governorate. The governorate’s capital is its principal administrative and urban center.
Egyptian agriculture: Egyptian agriculture is the cultivation of crops and raising of livestock within the country’s arid environment and irrigated riverlands. Irrigated fields make agriculture a defining activity across much of Sharqia.

Qalyubia Governorate: Qalyubia Governorate is an administrative region in the Nile Delta north of Cairo, with its capital at Benha. It lies west of Sharqia and links the eastern Delta with Greater Cairo.
Egyptian governorates: Egyptian governorates are the country’s top-level administrative divisions, each governed by a governor. Sharqia is one of Egypt’s governorates.
Rice production: Rice production is the cultivation and processing of rice for food and trade. Rice is cultivated in parts of the Nile Delta, including areas of Sharqia.
