Shelley Winters

Shelley Winters (1920–2006) was an American actress whose career spanned film, television, and theater. She won two Academy Awards for supporting performances in The Diary of Anne Frank and A Patch of Blue.

A Place in the Sun: A 1951 drama directed by George Stevens, based on Theodore Dreiser’s novel An American Tragedy. Winters earned an Academy Award nomination playing Alice Tripp, whose pregnancy drives the film’s tragedy.
George Stevens: An American film director whose work includes A Place in the Sun and Shane. Stevens directed Winters in A Place in the Sun and The Diary of Anne Frank.
