Short circuit

A short circuit is an unintended low-resistance electrical path that diverts current from its intended route, often causing excessive current and heat.

Ohm's law: The relationship between voltage, current, and resistance in an electrical circuit. It explains why reducing a path’s resistance increases current when voltage remains fixed.
Electric circuit: An interconnected path through which electric current can flow. A short circuit is a fault within an otherwise intended circuit.
Electrical wiring: Conductors and associated components that distribute electrical power within buildings or equipment. Damaged insulation or loose connections can create short paths between wires.
