Sidama Region

Sidama Region is a regional state in southern Ethiopia, established in 2020 after separating from the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region. Its capital is Hawassa.

Sidama Zone: An administrative zone in southern Ethiopia that became the basis for Sidama Region. Its demand for regional status led to the referendum that created the state.
Hawassa: A city in southern Ethiopia and the capital of Sidama Region. It serves as the region’s administrative center and largest city.
