Sidney Nolan

Sidney Nolan (1917–1992) was an Australian modernist artist best known for paintings of the outlaw Ned Kelly, Australian history, and landscape.

Ned Kelly series: Sidney Nolan’s paintings of the nineteenth-century bushranger Ned Kelly, begun in 1946. The series made Nolan’s black, squared helmet an enduring image of Kelly.
