Simin Daneshvar

Simin Daneshvar (1921–2012) was an Iranian novelist, short-story writer, and translator. Her 1969 novel Savushun became a landmark of Persian-language fiction.

Savushun: A 1969 Persian-language novel by Simin Daneshvar, set in Shiraz during the Second World War. Daneshvar’s best-known novel follows a landowning family amid wartime occupation and political pressure.
University of Tehran: A public research university founded in Tehran in 1934. Daneshvar studied Persian literature there and completed a doctorate in 1948.
