Slavic third palatalization

A Proto-Slavic sound change that turned velar consonants into sibilants or affricates after certain front vowels and diphthongs. Unlike the first two Slavic palatalizations, it could apply across intervening sounds.

Proto-Slavic: The reconstructed common ancestor of the Slavic languages, spoken before their historical diversification. The third palatalization is a sound change reconstructed for this ancestral language.
