Sobekneferu

Sobekneferu was a pharaoh of Egypt’s Twelfth Dynasty who ruled near the end of the nineteenth century BCE. She is the earliest securely attested woman to hold Egypt’s kingship in her own right.

Amenemhat III: A Twelfth Dynasty pharaoh whose long reign preceded Sobekneferu’s. Sobekneferu’s possible relationship to him helped support her claim to the throne.
