Social engineering

Social engineering is the deliberate redesign of social institutions or behavior according to a planned model, often through laws, policies, education, or organized campaigns.

Policy feedback: The process by which policies reshape political behavior and institutions that later influence policy. Interventions can alter the conditions and coalitions that sustain or redirect them.
Auguste Comte: A French philosopher who founded positivism and helped establish sociology as a discipline. His vision of a science of society linked knowledge to deliberate social reorganization.
Authoritarianism: A form of government that concentrates power and restricts political pluralism and individual freedoms. Centralized authority can impose a social model without meaningful public consent.

Meiji Restoration: The political transformation beginning in 1868 that replaced Japan's shogunate with imperial rule and rapid modernization. State-led institutional change rapidly reshaped Japan's military, economy, and administration.
Public choice theory: The application of economic analysis to political behavior and institutions. It examines how planners' incentives and interests can diverge from public goals.
