Socialist Revolutionary Party

The Socialist Revolutionary Party was a Russian socialist party that drew support from peasants and advocated land redistribution. It became a major political force before and after the 1917 Russian revolutions.

Russian populism: A nineteenth-century Russian movement that sought social change through the peasantry and rural communes. The party inherited populist ideas about peasants as agents of social transformation.
Land socialization: A proposal to remove land from private ownership and place its use under collective or public control. The party's agrarian program called for land socialization rather than conventional nationalization.
