Songket

Songket is a traditional handwoven fabric of Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia and Malaysia, distinguished by motifs formed with supplementary gold or silver threads.

Supplementary weft: A thread inserted in addition to the ground weft to create decorative patterns on a woven fabric. Songket motifs are formed by supplementary threads carried across selected areas of the ground weave.
