Sophie Wilson

Sophie Wilson is a British computer scientist who co-designed the BBC Micro and the instruction set architecture that became ARM.

BBC Micro: A British home computer released in 1981 by Acorn Computers, designed for the BBC Computer Literacy Project. Wilson co-designed this computer, whose hardware and software helped establish her reputation.
ARM1: The first ARM processor, a prototype microprocessor developed by Acorn and completed in 1985. It was the first physical realization of the architecture Wilson co-designed.
Steve Furber: A British computer scientist and engineer who co-designed the BBC Micro and the original ARM processor with Wilson. Furber was Wilson's close engineering collaborator on both landmark Acorn projects.
ARM Ltd.: The company established in 1990 to commercialize and license processor designs originating at Acorn. Wilson's architecture became the basis of a licensing business with worldwide reach.
