South Korean democracy movement

A broad movement that challenged authoritarian rule and pressed for democratic political rights in South Korea, especially from the 1960s through the 1987 transition.

April Revolution: The 1960 popular uprising that forced South Korean president Syngman Rhee to resign. It began a major cycle of popular resistance to authoritarian government.
