South Vietnam

The Republic of Vietnam was a state in southern Vietnam from 1955 until its collapse in 1975. It opposed communist North Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Geneva Conference: A 1954 international conference that ended the First Indochina War and provisionally divided Vietnam at the 17th parallel. Its agreements created the temporary partition from which the Republic of Vietnam emerged.
