Soviet industrialization

The state-directed transformation of the Soviet Union from a predominantly agrarian society into an industrial power, driven especially by Stalin’s Five-Year Plans and forced collectivization.

Five-Year Plans: Fixed-term state programs that set production targets and investment priorities across the Soviet economy. They organized industrial expansion around centrally assigned targets, beginning in 1928.
Holodomor: The devastating famine in Soviet Ukraine in 1932–1933, during which millions died. Collectivization and grain procurement policies contributed to the famine's catastrophic conditions.
