Soviet nostalgia

Soviet nostalgia is longing for selected aspects of life, identity, or governance in the former Soviet Union. It can coexist with criticism of Soviet repression and shortages.

Ostalgie: Nostalgia for everyday life and culture in the former German Democratic Republic. This related nostalgia focuses specifically on East German experience rather than the Soviet Union as a whole.
Dissolution of the Soviet Union: The 1991 breakup of the Soviet Union into independent states. The union's end created the historical rupture around which much Soviet nostalgia formed.
Communist Party of the Russian Federation: A Russian political party founded in 1993 that advocates communist and Soviet-oriented policies. It channels Soviet nostalgia into electoral politics and organized commemoration.
