Space Adventures

Space Adventures is a private company that arranges commercial human spaceflight experiences, including orbital missions aboard Russian spacecraft and flights to the edge of space.

Dennis Tito: An American entrepreneur who became the first self-funded space tourist in 2001. Space Adventures arranged Tito’s orbital flight aboard the International Space Station.
Soyuz spacecraft: A Russian crewed spacecraft used to transport people between Earth and orbit. It carried Space Adventures’ early private customers to the International Space Station.
Axiom Space: A private space company that organizes missions to orbit and develops commercial space stations. Axiom has pursued privately organized station missions through a different commercial model.
Space tourist: A person who travels to space primarily for personal experience rather than professional space duties. Space Adventures helped establish privately funded visitors as a recognizable category of space traveler.
Mark Shuttleworth: A South African entrepreneur who traveled to the International Space Station in 2002 as a space tourist. Space Adventures organized his Soyuz mission, its second orbital tourist flight.

Gregory Olsen: An American entrepreneur and scientist who visited the International Space Station in 2005. His privately funded Soyuz trip was another Space Adventures-arranged orbital mission.
Roscosmos: Russia’s federal space agency, responsible for the country’s civil space program. Space Adventures relied on Russian launch and spacecraft services for orbital trips.
