Spanish conquest of the Muisca

The Spanish campaign that brought Muisca territories in the central Colombian Andes under colonial rule during the 1530s.

Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada: A Spanish conquistador who led the expedition from Santa Marta into Muisca territory in 1536–1537. His inland march established Spanish control over much of the Muisca highlands.
Tisquesusa: The Zipa, or ruler of Bacatá, when Jiménez de Quesada’s expedition entered Muisca territory. His flight and death amid the invasion weakened the Bacatá leadership.
