Spanish Habsburgs

The branch of the House of Habsburg that ruled the Spanish monarchy from 1516 until Charles II died without an heir in 1700.

Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor: A Habsburg ruler who governed Spain and a vast central European empire from 1519 to 1556. His abdication divided the Habsburg inheritance, establishing the Spanish branch under his son Philip.
