Spartacus

Spartacus was a Thracian gladiator who led a large uprising of enslaved people and other followers against the Roman Republic from 73 to 71 BCE.

Third Servile War: The Roman Republic’s major slave uprising, led by Spartacus from 73 to 71 BCE. This broader conflict encompassed Spartacus’s campaigns and the Roman effort to suppress them.
Capua: An ancient city in Campania, near which a gladiatorial school held Spartacus and other fighters. The revolt began with the escape of gladiators from a school there.
