Ssireum

Ssireum is a Korean wrestling sport in which competitors grip cloth belts tied around the waist and thigh to unbalance and throw one another to the ground.

Satba: A cloth belt worn around a ssireum wrestler’s waist and thigh and held by both competitors during a bout. The shared grip on the satba makes leverage and control central to each exchange.
Goguryeo tomb murals: Painted scenes inside tombs of the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo, including depictions of wrestling. The wrestling scenes are among the earliest visual evidence associated with ssireum.
