Stanley Baldwin

Stanley Baldwin was a British Conservative politician who served as prime minister in 1923–1924, 1924–1929, and 1935–1937. His governments faced the General Strike, economic hardship, and the abdication crisis.

1926 General Strike: A nine-day British strike in May 1926, called by the Trades Union Congress in support of locked-out coal miners. Baldwin's government confronted the strike and defended its handling of industrial conflict.
