Steam

Steam is water in its gaseous state, formed when liquid water evaporates or boils. It can coexist with liquid droplets, especially in visible plumes.

Vaporization: Vaporization is the change of a liquid into a gas by evaporation or boiling. Steam forms when water undergoes this phase change.
Water: Water is a chemical compound of hydrogen and oxygen with the formula H₂O. Steam is water whose molecules have entered the gas phase.
Steam engine: A steam engine converts the thermal energy of pressurized steam into mechanical work. It uses expanding steam to drive a piston or turbine.
Industrial Revolution: The Industrial Revolution was the transformation toward mechanized production that began in Britain in the eighteenth century. Steam engines helped expand factory production and mechanized transport.
Fog: Fog is a cloud of tiny liquid-water droplets suspended near the ground. Visible fog is liquid droplets, not gaseous steam.
Evaporation: Evaporation is the conversion of a liquid into gas at its surface, below the boiling point. It produces water vapor without requiring water to boil.
Water vapor: Water vapor is water in its gaseous phase and is invisible as a pure gas. The term distinguishes gaseous water from visible clouds of droplets often called steam.
Steam turbine: A steam turbine extracts mechanical energy from high-pressure steam flowing across blades. It converts steam's energy into shaft rotation for electricity generation.
James Watt: James Watt was a Scottish inventor and engineer whose improvements made steam engines more efficient. His separate condenser reduced fuel consumption in many steam engines.
Cloud: A cloud is a visible collection of suspended water droplets, ice crystals, or both in an atmosphere. Clouds form from condensed water, unlike invisible water vapor.
