Stilicho

Stilicho was a Roman general and statesman of Vandal origin who led the Western Roman Empire’s military from 395 until his execution in 408.

Theodosius I: Roman emperor from 379 to 395 who reunited the empire under his rule. Stilicho served Theodosius and was entrusted with military authority before the emperor’s death.
Western Roman Empire: The western imperial government and territories of Rome, conventionally dated from the empire’s division in 395 to 476. Stilicho’s authority rested on the western court and its military resources.
