Sulfur monoxide

Sulfur monoxide (SO) is a reactive, short-lived molecule containing one sulfur atom and one oxygen atom. It occurs in flames and has been detected in interstellar space.

Sulfur monoxide dimerization: The combination of two sulfur monoxide molecules to form disulfur dioxide, S₂O₂. A principal loss pathway that helps make free SO short-lived.
