Sunset

Sunset is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the horizon as Earth rotates. Its timing and appearance depend on location, season, atmospheric conditions, and the horizon.

Earth's rotation: Earth's spinning motion around its axis, which produces the daily cycle of daylight and darkness. The rotation carries a location on Earth from facing the Sun to facing away.
Solar declination: The angular position of the Sun north or south of Earth's equatorial plane. Its seasonal change shifts the Sun's path and sunset direction.
Sunset time: The local clock time when the Sun's upper edge appears to pass below the horizon under a stated convention. Its calculation combines location, date, atmospheric assumptions, and the visible horizon.
Sunrise: The daily appearance of the Sun above the horizon as Earth rotates. It is the horizon crossing opposite sunset in the daily cycle.
Horizon: The apparent boundary between the sky and the ground or sea, shaped by the observer's viewpoint. Sunset occurs as the Sun's apparent disk passes below this boundary.
Latitude: A geographic coordinate measuring angular distance north or south of the equator. Latitude changes the angle at which the Sun meets the horizon.
