Šuppiluliuma I

Šuppiluliuma I was a Hittite king of the 14th century BCE who expanded Hittite power through military campaigns and diplomacy, challenging Mitanni and Egypt.

Battle of Kadesh: A series of clashes between Hittite and Egyptian forces in Syria, culminating in a major battle around 1274 BCE. The later confrontation between the empires whose rivalry Šuppiluliuma helped intensify.
Mitanni: A Hurrian-led kingdom that controlled parts of northern Mesopotamia and Syria during the Late Bronze Age. Šuppiluliuma's campaigns broke Mitanni's regional dominance and brought former territories under Hittite influence.
