Tabaré Vázquez

Tabaré Vázquez was a Uruguayan physician and politician who served as president from 2005 to 2010 and from 2015 to 2020. He was the first president from the Broad Front coalition.

Broad Front: A left-wing Uruguayan political coalition founded in 1971. Vázquez’s coalition won the presidency for the first time under his leadership in 2004.
José Mujica: A Uruguayan politician who served as president from 2010 to 2015. Mujica succeeded Vázquez between his two presidential terms and belonged to the same coalition.
Montevideo: The capital and largest city of Uruguay. Vázquez was born and built his medical and political career in Montevideo.
